Tai chi and kung-fu instructor for 20 years.

My name is Edigar Nzeyimana and I have been a tai chi and kung-fu instructor for the past 10 years. I began to practice kung-fu just before the age of seven. After the war and genocide in my native Rwanda, I was forced to live on the streets. I felt that I needed to practice a martial art to be able to defend myself against the assaults that were a part of my environment. I was also looking for a path that would bring me strength and wisdom both physically and mentally. From the start of my training, the teaching I followed combined the practice of kung-fu with tai chi; there was no separation of these two arts. Therefore, I now draw on both disciplines, which I see as complementary, to inform my teaching methods.
